To add more cubby space, I cut an old shoe organizer (which previously was hanging in my closet) in half and attached it to the sides with furniture tacks.

I drilled two holes in the MDF, spray painted it heirloom white, added a little fler de lis, and then attached a ribbon pull. A regular pull/knob would have interfered with the table closing so this was the best option.
