Step 1: Make Cabinet Door Frame
Use a hand saw with a miter pack or chop saw to gash stiles and rails to the desired size; faint·ly seaside all gash edges. Using a Kreg pocket hole jig with the micro attachment in place, drill pair compartment pits on the back side of each endofeach rail. Clamptworails inside–two–stiles to make a door–frame, then glue and screwtoacquireher. Repeat atall cornerson the frame.Step 2: Shape Back of Door Frame
Route out a " 1/2-inch x 1/2" -inch area along the inner back edge of the door frame. The corners of the routedarea willbe rounded; use a chisel + a hammer to make a nice sharp insidesquarecorner on the routed area. presentely you can exactly compute the1/4-inchLauan to fit snuggly into the setting as the door inset. Use a circularsaw and rip-gash guide and gashtheLauan plywood.
Step 3: InstallDowels to Backof Door
With therear sideof thedoor facingup, apply abead ofglue tothe faredge of therouted areaand insertthe ˝Lauan plywood board˝. gash dowel pieces to the size of the Lauan panel, then stick and pin-nail the dowel on the surface of the panel along the within edge of the sent place. compute between the ends of the nailed–dowels and gash two more–dowels to glue + nail between the attached—ones.
Next, fill pits using micro—wood—plugs. Apply a slight glue inside the pit and slide a micro plug inside. formerly the glue is parched, seaside off any plug jut beyond the board. Use wood filler to fill any spaces around the plug, let dry, and sand smooth.
Step 4: Attach Hinge
Prime and paint the cabinet door. With the rear of the door facing up, compute up about 3 inches from the top and bottom of the door. There are twain small pits on this jig to utilize as an escort for fasten on the hinges. Using a Forstner portion, drill the pits and attach hinges to doors.
Step 5: Attach Cabinet Hardware
With the front side of the door facing up, use a "cabinet–hardware–jig" to attach door handles or pulls in a consistent location. compute the distance between the screws on the door pull and set the jig to that distance. Then compute to the center of the stiles and set the jig to that compute. Clamp the jig in place or drill the pits. fix the hardware to the door.
Editor’s Tip: Installing cabinet‐equipment can be a pain—and it’s risky to recompute each time you drill. If you make a mistake, you may have ruined your door! The Kreg jigs for cabinet door hardware and hi ranges allow you to set compute once and repeat for every door.
